Heres a dose of life for you.A girl wrote a poem.A girl who was dying of cancer.A poem that was to remind everyone of how goddam lucky they are, even if it seems that their life isn't anything special. And she called it slow dance.A friend of mine sent it to me,witha message attached. The girls last request was that her poem could be sent to as many people as could be.Think of it.A little girl, with every right someone could have to be bitter, jealous, angry at everything. And what does she ask for?She asks for help in making the world a little warmer, brighter, better. If you read this,I'm asking you as a stranger,to whom you owe nothing,if you can, please pass this on to at least someone.
Slow Dance.
Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down.
Don't dance too fast.
Life is short.
The music won't last.
Do you run through each day
On the fly?
When you ask "how are you?",
Do you hear the reply?
When the day is done,
Do you lie in your bed,
With the next hundred chores
Running in your head?
Yu'd better slow down.
Don't dance too fast.
Life is short.
The music won't last.
Ever told your child,
"We'll do it tommorow,"
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die,
'Cause you never had time
To call and say "Hi".
You'd better slow down.
Don't dance so fast.
Life is short.
The music won't last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere,
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It's like an unopened gift...
Thrown away.
Life's not a race.
Do take it slower.
Hear the music,
Before the song is over.
If that didn't leave you feeling at least a little different,I'm sorry for you.
